Covid Business Rescue Assistance

Covid Business Resuce Assistance

Many businesses have been facing new challenges as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and related restrictions on ordinary life and commerce. While many businesses have enjoyed new opportunities, the net impact on most South African companies has been negative and many businesses have found themselves in financial distress.

Verdant Capital is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the COBRA initiative – which stands for COVID Business Rescue Assistance. The COBRA initiative was established to provide assistance from professional advisors to South African businesses in need. Verdant Capital offers services both in respect of M&A advisory and restructuring advisory.

From a M&A perspective, Verdant Capital is represented by bankers with deep M&A experience gained with bulge bracket investment banks both locally and internationally and is a member of the IMAP partnership. With partner firms present in nearly 40 countries and with more than 500 M&A professionals, IMAP is the world’s largest M&A partnership. In addition to South Africa, Verdant Capital is active across Africa and has recently completed or is currently executing transactions in 20 African countries.

Verdant Capital also has deep restructuring experience and can bring to bear a clear analytical framework to identify and then address the underlying issues. Verdant Capital has the skills and credibility to manage negotiations with different groups, including new investors, shareholders, banks, development banks, creditors of varying seniority and where appropriate, other stakeholders.

Verdant Capital will be hosting, through COBRA, a webinar on Wednesday July 29, 2020, at 10am SA time, dealing with mergers and acquisitions during the COVID-19 period and will address two key questions:

Can you sell your business in the current environment?

How do you go about selling your business?
